I need to know if I can swap two hard drives from different laptops and the information on the hard drives will still be there

Yep, you can do that. Just make sure they use the same connector (SATA or IDE, and in some cases you might have a limit on the drive height - usually 9.5mm, but sometimes limited to 7mm). The OSes on them might not work properly though while in a different machine. (you can reinstall the OS though and it'll fix the problem)

If you take a boot drive from another machine you may have some problems since you proably don't have the same components on both machines. If the are secondary drives then no problems. If it is a boot drive no data will be erased it will just (most likely) have different drivers then the system you are moving it to.

Hi, Jammy, and welcome to the forums.
Can you explain a little better exactly what you want to do?
For instance, your description could mean that you want to swap the physical drives, but with each laptop still containing its own unique files.
Or it could mean that you don't want to change the physical drives, but swap the files on them.
There are other meanings, as well.
