Hi and welcome to the forums. If you are talking about the PC World Superstore in the U.K., maybe, but not sure. Most of those type places do have a "Service" department.

A friend on mine had his laptop break and it was diagnosed as a Mobo issue. He purchased a Mobo online and took it to a computer store and they installed the Mobo into the laptop and charged the normal labor fees.

Hi, jammy, and welcome to the PC World forums.

First of all, you should know that these forums are associated with the American technology magazine PC World, not the British retailer with the same name. These two entities have no connection with each other.

But on to your question:

If you're talking about replacing a defective motherboard, that might be possible. The issues would be whether you can find another mb for that particular model, and whether the store has anyone with the right skills. If they don't, someone else will.

If you're talking about upgrading to a better motherboard, I'd consider that extremely unlikely. Upgrading a desktop motherboard is reasonably easy, but laptops are different. Each model has its own unique motherboard and case, both designed for each other.

That's one of the problems with laptops--they're not very upgradable.
