Left to Time warner, comcast and other cable companies, they will take America to stone age. After taking everyone to stone age, they will then go to congress to get billions of dollars to upgrade nation's infrastructure which they will charge a premium from every citizen to use. The only helpers of common man seem Google , Amazon and the tech companies.
Users Don't Want Gigabit Internet Speeds, Time Warner Cable Exec Says

I don't get this argument. Apparently TWC is assuming people taking the lower plans is cause of the speed, as opposed to the price. Which is ironic, cause people taking the lower speeds don't know what it all means, so they decide on cost only
I am pretty sure that the majority would want it if they could download/stream at more then 10x the speed for under $100 a month. But its all about the spin right? An accurate statement from TWC would be more along the lines of "People don't want gigabit internet at the price we are willing to provide it at".

Of course, the connection will only be as fast as its slowest link. But if given the choice, I'd rather have 100% uptime. One can only hope...

The internet may be to slow for it ... at this point in time. However, there has been a conversion to Fiber Optics going on in a lot more cities and towns than you may suspect. AT&T is putting in Fiber in my neighborhood and is planning on offering 1gigabit speeds. The only thing that will stop me from switching to AT&T will be the 2 year contract that you have to sign as well as the price which will be in the neighborhood of $100 a month or so. At any rate the internet WILL mature and it will get speedier, faster than one may think at this time.
