TD. Do not assume anything. Run the other program and see if it finds anything. Also, when was the last time you did a Error Check of your Hard Drive(s) and Defragmented the Hard Drive(s)?TO EXPAND UPON WHAT NORTHLITE SAIDOkay, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player definitely are not within the Add/Remove Utility.- When you open up the Add/Remove Utility, maximize the window.- Look on the left side of the screen- Click on the link that says "Add/Remove Windows Components"- A secondary window will open. This is the Windows Components Utility.- You will see all of the components that were installed during the Windows XP installation in this window. The only reason you should have to make any changes here is if you can not use this programs. If you see them listed in this secondary window, they are in your computer. If you haven't Defrag'd or Error Check'd your Hard Drive(s) that could cause a slow down as well. For the programs that do not have uninstall buttons in the regular Add/Remove utility, did you try to download and run the free Add/Remove Pro program I mentioned earlier?

Go for it. It states that it will remove the rootkit. Definitely a good thing. Before you run the program, set a System Restore point. Post if you have any problems.

Whatever you do, DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE REG EDITOR. If you change one thing that is not supposed to be changed, you will damage your system. As I mentioned, there are links within the Rootkit Revealer hyperlink that will show you what sites can help you remove Rootkits. Every Rootkit is dangerous. Even if you showed me the output, I have absolutely no idea how to read them. That is a programmer thing. Sorry.I will try to find a site for you, in the meantime, check the link and see if there are any sites available. Rootkit Revealer is great; however, it would be perfect if it actually removed the rootkits as well.Try these sites:http://forum.sysinternals.com/forumtopics.asp?FID=15http://www.microsoft.com/emea/itsshowtime/sessionh.aspx?videoid=359http://safecomputing.umn.edu/guides/scanunhackme.html
