They forgot one of the worst feature ever....file extension recognition online.Actually when windows can't open a file by his own it ask you if you want to search online (with windows search thing) for a software that will open the file or some information about the extension.Unfortunately, windows doesn't know what an exe is!you can delete the extension in folder option so when opening a exe file it won't start the program and the message to search the extension online will pop. Click search and wow exe is an unknown file....People may not know that micrsoft is keeping compatibility with DOS.Some filename are restricted because they were the name of Dos Device. So then if someone find how to create a file con.txt prn.txt etc... you won't be able to erase them of your hard drive ahahah

Number 1 has got to be WGA. One other you missed is that all the multitude of updates that are continually download as a result of XP SP2 have still not made your PC any safer, just slower. To provide equal time, I would like to submit the best Windows feature of all. I no longer own a copy! I have fully converted to Linux. I have been dual booting for years, but finally got MS off my hard drive, and out of my life. Vista was the last straw for me. I no longer have the desire to pay for the privilege of fixing someone else's bugs for them. I tried numerous Linux distros, and did not once have to ask MS' permission(reactivate). Very liberating indeed. Finally settled on Ubuntu Feisty, along with Wine and Cedega for games.

i thought that this was an excellent article, since it addressed several questions i've always wondered about, e.g. all those annoying balloons notifying you of the obvious.

Hey guys.. Linux has force quit by default. Not only that, Linux will ask you if you want to wait or force quit an application if it detects that after a certain number of seconds the application does not close if you want to close it. Duhh...
Here we go again.

I think one of the worst features is the lack of file system's it can read. I can view my Window's files on my Linux desktop, why can't I do it the other way round? And their choice of file system's is horrid: NTFS is old, rubbish and cluttery (it makes damn Trash folders), and FAT is horrid. Why not use EXT or XFS? Come on Microsoft!

Just wanted to leave a general insult to PC programmers and Windows makers. Nothing personal. And of course I will not have to make a detailed critique. Thank you.

I thought the turning off and booting on should be in the top ten. But the 'End Task' one was probably my number one, had to go to the process tree to kill the program. lol

I have got both Windows XP and Windows 7 on different laptops. And I love some of the software on Windows XP. Windows XP Movie Maker 2.1 is the best version of Movie Maker. And I have installed Windows Movie Maker 2.1 on my Windows 7. And it works. And so does the web cam feature. And I love search companion on Windows XP.That search with the dog, and I wish there was a software where I could get the same animated search on Windows 7. As for user account control. Well that is permanently disabled on my Windows 7.And that end task and Windows error reporting.Well that's still there on Windows 7.They have not got rid of that yet. Andrea Borman.
