Okay, if you are only using Avast and Spybot, you are extremely under-protected. Is that all the security you have?As RGreen mentioned, this is a case of malware or a registry problem. If you only have the above applications, please let us know. I have a cache of applications that I can recommend to you.

 "sir"? Have I been knighted? LOL Anyway, I would advise you get these three (3) thorough scanner and use each of them:SuperAnti SpywareDr. Web Cure-ItIt was just brought to my attention that Cure-It may not work properly. I have had no reason to use it but if it acts up with you, please let me know and I will run a scan of my own.Rootkit RevealerThe Rootkit Revealer will only determine if you have a Rootkit in your computer. If you do, you can use the report that this application provides and search for sites that can analyze and troubleshoot your computer. This is just for starters. Spirit will advise on others as well. Remember to set restore points as you go.

 Please don't call me sir. I am way too young to be a "sir" to someone. LOL Anyway, cleaning the registry may fix your problem but it may not be all that is wrong with your computer. As RGreen, myself, and others, have mentioned, this may be a combination of problems. If you are planning on repair Windows, I would still run the various scans to confirm that your system is clear.

{size:18px}[/size]:D Hi Chi : "SUPERAntiSpyware" comes in 2 different Versions; a FREE one which I recommended and a "Pay-for-it" version, which provides "real-time" protection. I recommended the FREE ver since it is compatible with almost ALL Operating Systems AND it will NOT "conflict" with any other Security program . We really should know the SPECIFIC Name of your Operating System !? Is it Win XP SP2 or one of the "Vista"s !? I feel it would be best at this point in time IF you used your Built-In Windows Checkdisk Utility, to check for possible "Errors" there !? The easiest way would be to click "Start", select "Run", type "cmd", click "OK", then type "chkdsk c: /f /r"; must put a blank space before each "/", as well as after the "k". Note : a Reboot is normallly required for the chkdsk program to "lock" the disk and run correctly, so restart the computer and chkdsk will run automatically. When it's finished ( can take quite a long time to run ), it should boot back to "normal" Windows .
