No Sound Device

Windows xp says there is no sound device when in the device manager it shows my sound card is working fine.http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t39/xubuntu/untitled-1.jpg < - screenshot I have installed all the drivers for it but it still doesn't work. I get no sound at all- no system sounds or other programs .thanks for your help!

Ive tried to post a link that may help you but this place will not allow it. Im a new user, and you have to be a member for one day to post links. Ill post it here tomorrow. No matter how I try to disguise it the system zaps it for having a link in it. Ive tried some creative stuff too, this forum is locked down tighter than Fort Knox.

Spazzhead, click on the Email button and try to email it to me......OR.....just give the domain name of the site to which you would like to direct unraw.

Hi unraw,Is the Windows Audio service up and running?If you don't know, go to the Start button -> Run -> type services.msc and press Enter.Check if Windows Audio service is Started and if it is in Automatic start type.Regards

what about trying a reinstall. I had this problem before when i reformatted. I installed my sound card but got no sound so i removed it reinstalled it did a reboot and it worked. Maybe it will work for you.

right now i have ubuntu 704 installed. and the sound works. tomorrow i will Probably install windows again and then it will work. thanks for all the suggestions and help anyways.
