my laptop, running windows vista home premium, was, as a present from my sister, dumped in the toilet then flushed. I am looking for a new laptop and wondering if Macs were for me. I am in school, and frequently do projects. Also a little gaming once in a while...('8)')Cool

Not sure if imacs have the intel processor but if you get them you can dual boot windows. It all depends I guess if it has a format on the mac. I know you can play everquest and World of Warcraft on a mac and those defiantly aren't 2d games.

my friend said macs are a disgrace because about a week he got his, he got spyware. But it was his fault because he went on sites like winfixer, spy sheriff, etc, ON HIS WINDOWS XP side of the mac. he said that macs protection would protect him. huh?

Even if you only consider the Mac OS side of stuff, there are some 3D games that play just fine on Macs. The problem with games for the Mac OS is that not as many developers produce for the Mac. But, when a game is produced for the Mac that is also on Windoze, the Mac version does just fine.Beyond that, you can setup up Boot Camp to run Windoze and then an Intel based Mac is virtually no different than a comparable Windoze PeeCee. It will play Windoze games just fine. The only thing that might have trouble is the newest games that require DirectX 10...and they still might work.

The fact is the Mas do much more than "barely support any games". There are advanced and good games on the Mac using the Mac OS, just not as many as on the Windows PC side. And if you dual boot with Boot Camp, then you have access to virtually all (if not all...I don't know for sure as I am not a big gamer) of Windows' games. The only real limitation is that it is tougher to get more advanced graphics systems for most Macs.End result is that if gaming is the primary objective, then more than likely a Windows PC is the better choice. If gaming is one of many objectives, then a Mac might be a valid choice depending on what games "want" to be played and the desire to mess with Boot Camp. If gaming is a minor objective, then a Mac might be a rather good choice. The point is that contrary to your claim, Macs do have a rather decent gaming environment....just not as good as Windows PCs (although Macs are gaining ground...there was news recently that a major game maker would release Mac version at the same time as Windows PC versions and others are offering better support of some key game engines).
