It's the very latest which I believe is 11. I was thinking of uninstalling it and trying an older version. I should do that i think. No other significant changes have been done to my computer such as progam installs.

Hi 98roverguy,Double-click on the speaker icon on your system tray (if you don't have an icon in the sys tray then open it in control panel) then on the window that pops up make sure that wave is not muted. This happened to me once and that worked for me.

98roverguy - what type of video is it doing it on? I have the same problem with Windows Media Player, but only on .avi files played from the hard drive. Playing a DVD works fine!!I really haven't had a chance to worry with it yet, so I'll keep an eye on your post for a solution.BTW, this is on Vista.

Uninstalled 11 and still wont work on 10. This is not an avi thing, it won't play sound on any video type. Nothing in the computer is being muted after clicking on the speaker icon. I'm begining to think its somehting to do with my soundblaster card. It's just odd because everything else has sound.

98roverguy - is this an upgrade of Vista? And if so did you do a clean install?

Having the same problem. No sound from Media Player. Been using Media Player 11 for quite some time and was working good. A week or so ago, no sound came out. I get no sound from any source (cd, dvd, hard drive) or from any format (mva, wave, MP3, etc.) My other audio/video players (Nero, RealPlayer) work fine, no problems. Uninstalled Media Player 11, installed 10, nothing. Reinstalled 11, nothing. Reinstalled driver for Sound Blaster, nothing. Microsofts answer? un-mute the sound card.Would appreciate any suggestions from anyone on this problem. Thanks in advance.

I have WinXP SP2 and WMP 11. I too stopped getting sound from Media Player, although every other sound/video/game has full sound.I just updated with about 9 updates from Microshaft. I bet one of those did it! I'm going to try to identify it and remove it, you might want to do the same.
