for years now under my login on my home computer all web sites i visit are lacking color, the majority of the text is displayed with color in the heading, but oher than that the the web pges are white. i'm not sure when i lost the colors or how. however when my wife uses her login all the web pages are vibrant wth color. the same holds true when we login to our yahoo home page, e-mail and our personally set yahoo home page. any help would be appreciated. it gets boring looking at white back grounds all the time. thank you for your time. just to clarify she has color i don't.

Hi Talbert. Since you said, "for years now..." I take it you have Windows XP. Have you tried to delete your account and create another one?

yes i do have xp sp2, i am the adminatrator on my system and my wife back at the time this happend was the new account. i'm sorry for the lack of info. this originated back when my computer was a dell system, now i'm only using the dell harddrive. i have asked the same question to many people and no one can answer. so this forum is another source i thought i'd try. the dell techs told me i would have to dump the harddrive and reformat. i did not do it, i had too much info on the system at the time.

Okay, since there has to be at least one admin account at all times, let's try it this way...have you tried to create another admin account and then delete the original admin account?

If you do indeed make another account make sure to migrate all your accoutn specifc items to a backed up folder, namely MY Documents IE favorites etc. That way you can restore them later on. Have you also checked the color settings for your video card under you login? Right click on the desktop select "Propeties"and click on the "settings" tab. There is a drop-down list in teh bottom-right that allows you to adjust the number of colors that are supported.

Good point jimr. Is there a straight forward mention of migrating everything into the new admin account?

But, I would copy over the stuff from old use directory to the new user directory before deleting. I would copy the ENTIRE user directory not just My Documents if you want the Start menu and Desktop to remain the same. What I am not sure of is if you will be able to do this when logged in as the new user. You might have to actually create two new user admin accounts...login as new user admin A so that you can copy the old user directory to the new user admin B directory. Then login as new user admin B...everything should be setup the same as the old user account. If so, then delete the old user account and the new user admin A account. FWIW, I also have at least two users created on my computers...that way if my main user account gets screwed up and won't let me login, I can still login with the other account.
