Image.113 file - How do I open it?

I have an Iomega Zip100 disk with a file type called "image.113" however I can't open it.Can anyone tell my how to open it?Thanks.

Hi RxDr. So that we are all on the same page, the file extension is .113, correct? If so, you need the Iomage Backup Utility to open such a file.

More than likely. I haven't used a zip drive in a long time but I am sure that they have some type of backup utility program. Once you download and install it, your computer should automatically recognize .113 files as files that have to be opened by the backup utility.Good luck and happy hunting :-)Please post back if you have problems finding the utility.

MPH,I went on the Iomega site and they directed me to a backup software called EMC Retrospect, which I purchased and downloaded onto my computer.I also have Iomega Automatic Backup Pro installed on my computer for the 80 GB HDD that I purchased two years ago.Still, when I clicked on the file all I see is jibberish.Here is some more information.... there are two files on the sip disc. One is labeled Image 113, and the other is labeled wordpad and contains the following text and numbers.%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: UU ]%%%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%I have not a clue what that means, but since there are thousands of lines of jibberish for the 13 MB of data that is in the 113 file I have to assume that there is still data there that can somehow be recovered.What do you think? Is there something that I need to do with my new software to open the 113 file?RxDr

Hi RxDr. I am really not sure what to tell you. This is a product specific situation. The bad thing is that zip drives are pretty much obsolete so no one really has access to one. I actually have a zip drive in my collection, however, I have not use it in at least 5-10 years.When you said, "...they directed me...," did you actually speak to or chat with someone from Iomega? If not, you may want to discuss this with someone from their Technical Support department.I was going to suggest that you send me the files via email and I would take a look at them; however, I just checked my stash of electronics and I do not have my zip drive anymore. I must have thrown it out.I would advise you to contact Iomega Technical Support, if you haven't already, and post what they say. I will keep an eye out for your response.

Thanks for the quick reply.What directed me to that software was a note on their web site that Iomega no longer makes backup software (that sounded bizarre) but they referred me to the program that I purchased.They do have a help line for $25 per incident so I think that would be money well spent. I also have another disk (250) that when I look into properties it says it is full, but when I actually try to open the disc, nothing appares in the directory. My reason for using the zip discs was that when I left my former employer (6 years ago) I saved personal files (pics etc.) on the discs for lack of a better way of doing it. Now I'm trying to gather all my misc files in one location, thus the unearthing of the zip disks.Thanks again for you assistance and I'll post you when I have something to report.

You could just try changing the extension to a image file extension and see if it works. Only do this on a COPY of the file. Or open up a image/photo program like Photoshop Elelemts and try opening up the file from the Open dialog box. If it is an image file then this might work.I suspect that it might be part of a backup set. The file naming makes it sound that way. If so, then it is likely "encoded" using a backup program and you will likely need that backup program to restore it. Do you still have the original install disks for your ZIp drive? Do you recall how you made the ZIp disks...did you just copy files off using Explorer (just like you would copy a file from one drive to another) or did you use a program to backup the files?
