Hi, I have some MPEG video files. I also have a NEC DVD_RW ND-2510A DVD burner. I inserted a DVD-R blank and brand new disc and tried to burn my files with NERO 7. Unfortunatley, the burn failed and the message "illegal disc" came up. Then I changed the disc to a brand new DVD+R and tried burning again. This time, the movie burned successfully without any trouble. I was just wondering why my burner didn't burn to a DVD-R and if I should use a different program or what? thankss!

Hi Mehmi. According to this site, your drive supports all four formats: DVD-/+R(RW). The DVD-R disc could have been corrupted. It happens. Now, if you would have tried another DVD-R disc and you received the same message, then you could start worrying. On top of that, if you would have tried a couple more DVD-R of a different brand and still got that message, then you would have just determined that there may have been something wrong with your drive. At this point, there is no need for alarm. If you have the available media to run tests, the above paragraph is the tests you would run.
