Olympus XD card formatting problems

I have an Olympus 1 GB XD card that worked fine for 8 months before my laptop accidentally tried to use the XD card in the laptop XD card slot as a backup drive and tried writing files onto it.Ever since, the card does not work in my Olympus C-770 Ultrazoom camera. Reformatting from the camera does not work as it tries it and comes up with a blue screen on the camera showing " Card Error".I understand that the laptop has damaged the low level formatting on the XD card as it tried to write files on to the card.Looked up several solutions on the web, no luck !! Still struggling to get the card to work. Anyone successful, please help.:cry:
