I am trying to get XP on my external hard drive I made a partition for XP. I followed the instructions on http://apcmag.com/5485/dualbootingvistaand_xp After XP installs it tries to go to the GUI installer but after the loading screen, there is a blue screen error saying A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. It then goes onto saying there may be a virus but i know that is not the problem. On apcmag, other people experienced the same problem but they fixed it by installing the drivers on bios. My problem with the xb3000 SATA hard drive is that there are no drivers to be found. Do you think that if I disable the driver for the external hard drive in bios will that help? Or if I install the drivers (the drivers provided by Vista meaning: system32DRIVERSdisk.sys and system32DRIVERSpartmgr.sys) via floppy by pressing F6 in the installer for XP after booting from the disc? The problem with the second option is that after using my external floppy drive, I do not know how to put drivers onto xp with a floppy. Also, since I cannot find specific drivers for my HD, Can I use the drivers provided by vista and put them on the floppy? My back up plan for this is to put Vista on another partition on my main laptop hard drive. But to do this I do not want Vista on a C: drive so can I rename the drive with vista a different letter and still have XP and Vista? Thanks
