Hey...I am having the same problem with my desktop. There are popups LOCAL AREA DISCONNECTED. It's poping up all the time.Where I see the problem... It must be the modem. You mentioned u use the WESTELL (verizon).I have that as well. However I use my computer for 2 years, never had a problem before.I will try to call verizon to change the modem.I will let you know.

...before changing out the modem, I would suggest plugging in a different computer, laptop etc. to see if you get a connection. Go the least expensive route first.

Baggio - the best way to diagnose a problem is to first strip it down to the basics. If you have a complex system, or even if you just have a wireless network with two machines, take it one step at a time.If you are having problems connecting through a router:Connect the computer directly to the cable modem with an RJ-45 ethernet cable, preferably with the one that come with the modem or one that you know is good. If it works, then you know the computer, cable and modem are OK. If you have a second machine, hook it up to the same ethernet cable. If it works, you now have two computers you know are working. Replace the first ethernet cable with a second to verify the second cable is good.By adding a step at a time, you eliminate all of the "what if's" and isolate the cause. If you are having trouble with a wireless computer, connect it with the ethernet cable. An ethernet connection to a router passes all the WPA security, only the firewall is in the system. If you can connect with the cable, but not wirelessly, its the router or the router setup. If after trying several computers and cables connected directly to the modem, then more than likely its the modem.

All right... I will try everything what you just told me first. There is another problem. Do you thing it is related to the first one? When I turn off computer, it's gonna turn on itself in about 4-5 minutes. And if I unplugge ethernet cable from comp and then turn off, everything is allright(it stays turn off).It seem's to me very strange...Any idea?

Hi Baggio, please be a little clearer. When you say, "...it's gonna turn on itself in about 4-5 minutes." Do you mean your computer or your internet connection?Have you done any security scans for malicious files?

ok... the computer is gonna turn on itself in about 4-5 min.I tried disable connection (to see if it will turn it itself)... it doesnt. So only when I have internet connection and I turn the comp off, it will turn on itself in about 4-5 min.I have 3 antiviruses instal in my comp... it should not have any virus.

Hi Baggio. Just to confirm, you indicated you have Verizon. Do you have dial up or DSL?

hmmm... Cable was good... I changed it for a new one. Still didn't work.I bought the D-Link (connection through USB - wireless) It works perffect. But I am still concerned about the wire connection. Why when I connect comp with the wire (RJ45) to the modem it keeps telling LOCAL AREA DISCONNECTED, constantly.

Have you tried several different RJ45 cables?
