I know it exists. I need to be able to plug my audi video from my camera into my laptop. I know there is a box that plugs into your camera and on the other side is plugs into your laptop. This way you can record straight to your laptop rather then your camera. I can't recall what it is called. Any help????~Denise~

You mean to record video to your laptop directly from your video camera? For this, a USB cable with the relevant software can accomplish your task for you.If not, I do not see how you can do this unless you have a video capture card.

What make of camera do you have? Like yeokm1 said it's mostly software and a usb or firewire cable these days. But it sounds like you're not using the software that came with your camera, and the audio is getting stripped by some other program!

Most digital video cameras will have Firewire port that will allow you to hook your camera up to your computer by way of a Firewire port and transfer video to your computer for editting and other functions. I believe that they will have a "pass thru" ability (i.e. let you just dump the active camera feed to the computer) as well but don't know for sure...never really had the pleasure of messing with a digital video camera. The other option is something like a Dazzle box. This is a video capture device that you would hook up standard video cables to (i.e. RCA jacks) and then converts it to a digital signal that the computer can use. This type of device can be used with an analog or digital camera (or a VCR or DVD player or any other standard video source). If you camera has the ability to "pass thru" the video feed directly to the video output rather than to tape, then this device could work in the manner that you seem to be looking for.

What software could I possible use that would create live feed??? I don't really need to record More or less I just need to use my camera to connect to my computer so i can do live feed in a large building up on a screen from a projector. USB cable of this standard that would connect to my camera would be great! I will be trying to contact kodak to see what they say... but I hate to because it seems everytime I get on the phone with them I'm talking to someone who doesn't even understand english. So I really need help with this. I need this by the 20 of this month. so... i'm a little pressured by this and other things... any help at all would be great!~Denise~

[quote name='deniseyvonne']> > > > I have a Kodak Easyshare Z612. > > Based upon that, you might be outta luck. That camera is a digital "still" pciture camera. While it might have the ability to shoot videos (most digital cameras do), I don't know of any that will actively pass through the video/audio of the video mode to a computer. To my knowledge, they only have the ability to record the video to the camera's memory card and then you can transfer the video file (usually in some format like AVI) to your computer from the camera/memory card. You might be able to hook up the video out to a TV screen and actively display the video (no audio) to a TV. Your camera should have come with a cable that allows it to hook up to a TV to show pictures. Some cameras can do this while actively taking pictures, I believe.I had thought that you had an actual video camera...i.e. a camera designed specifically for taking videos not still pictures. I think you might be otta luck for what you want to do...assuming I am understanding your desire properly.
