Hello,I've read a few of your posts and have a quick question regarding the new external hard drive I just purchased.I moved all of my Itunes music/video/photos to external hard drive, with the understanding that the whole point of an ext. drive is to save space on your hard drive. However, when I clicked on the transferred files, the computer did not recognize the file, it gave me a pop up that said something to the effect that it can't find the program needed to open it and that I could search the web to try to find it.I am obviously a complete novice at this and could use some clarification. 1. Am I correct in assuming that once transferred (correctly) to ext. drive, you can delete the files from internal hard drive? Therefore making your computer move more quickly?2. That it should be easy to log on to E drive and access all of the files you need. (it should not give me that pop up saying that it doesn't find my program)Thank you!

Welcome to the PC World Community Forums When you mean deleting files from your internal drive, you mean the original hard drive in your computer correct? Why things would not work does not make sense, so, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to delete files on the Internal Hard hard drive. UNLESS they are being USED, when copying the files from the Internal to the external, you might get a write protected error and may require a reboot before the file is no longer in use.[quote:0262d2074e]2. That it should be easy to log on to E drive and access all of the files you need. (it should not give me that pop up saying that it doesn't find my program) [/quote:0262d2074e]Do you see the drive at all when you click on my computer? You mentioned it's an external hard drive, so, being external, I would assume it's probably USB connected. It should automatically detect the hard drive if it's plug and play compatible. Hmmm.
