After I removed Norton antivirus 2006 I get this error message when XP restarts Windows - no disk exception processing message c0000013 parameters 75b6f9c 75b6f9c 75b6b9cI removed Norton with windows add or remove and also ran the Norton Removal Tool from thier web site. When I remove Norton I get the error. When I reinstall Norton, the error goes away. Norton Tech support suggested it was a Quicktime problem. That solution did not work. Then they responded that it is a Windows security patch problem and I should contact Microsoft.I am trying to remove Norton and replace with another antivirus program. Any suggestions on how to fix the error. I searched on Google for this error and find several links, but none fix the problem.thanks

{size:18px}:D Hi JBar : In addition to uninstalling from "Add or Remove Programs" AND using the Norton "Removal Tool", I recommend the additional "step" of using your computer's "Search" feature, selecting "All files and folders" and using the Search "term" "Symnatec" and later "Norton" and attempt to "Delete" ALL it finds. If any "refuse" to be "Delete(d)" or the Error does NOT go away, you will probably need the assistance of an experienced, trained, certified by Microsoft as "Most Valuable Professiona"' Volunteer that can be found on the Support Forums at http://aumha.net .

When removing Norton's, use the removal tool, not the Windows Add/Delete tool.I have not had a problem doing it this way, and it is the way the instructions on the Symantec website say to do it.

I used the Windows add/delete and got the error. Reinstalled Norton and error went away. Tried again with the Norton Removal Tool and still got the error. Reinstalling again cleared the error. My updates for Norton have expired so I need to get rid of Norton so I can install the new antivirus.Would a registry fix tool help clear the error. Being a novice, I am afraid to do anything with the registry.

Now you know why people think so highly of Norton's  NOT!After you remove Norton's, at what point do you get the error?Yes a registry cleaning tool may help. What happens, is that even with the tool and add/remove, many references to call the program may remain. They should not, but may be left just the same. The other thing is, after removal, have you installed any anti-virus or anti-spam software? It would be best to install one of the free ones, there are many referenced in the PC World download section. I personally use and like AVG Free.

After removing Norton, I re-boot the computer when I get the message that Norton has been removed and I need to re-boot. On this first re-boot I get the error message immediately after XP starts. I re-boot several times and continue to get the error until I reinstall Norton. For now, I have re-installed Norton to get rid of the no disk error message. I purchased Kaspersky because of the good ratings but was afraid to install the new software while I am getting the no disk error. I am concerned that the problem may go from bad to worse. Can you recommend an easy and safe Registry tool? I do not feel comfortable doing anything with the registry. Thanks!

{size:18px}:D Hi JBar : I use the very SAFE "Evaluation Copy" of Registry First Aid, available from www.rosecitysoftware.com/reg1aid/ ; however, the FREE "Evaluation Copy" is located near the bottom of that page, NOT near the top of the page, where it says "Download" and the next line "free evaluation", then "Registry First Aid Standard" and the choice of 2 different download sites. It has a "Safe" Setting, which will ONLY allow "Safe" Items to be "fixed". However, you should follow my earlier Advise about using your "Search" feature PRIOR to using a "registry cleaner" and if neither the "Search" or the use of a "registry cleaner" resolve the problems see those Volunteer Experts on the Aumha Forums I mentioned. P.S. Should NEVER have 2 different antiVIRUS programs INSTALLED at the same time ( one installed and one DOWNLOADED is ok ) .

Thanks for all of your help. I will give it a try this weekend when I have more time to deal with it.
