You could go the physical route with something like this. It supposedly physically locks a USB port. This would appear to lock by way of software the USB ports as well as CD and floppy drives. As to locking a disk or partition, then you could look at something like this.Note, I don't know any of these products personally, but found them using Google searches. Don't know how good or bad they are. I just provided them as examples from which you can begin your own search.

This can be done through sharing. Limit the other users to limited accounts, and I don't believe that they will be able to see any one else's my documents folders. The other folders can be limited by limiting the shares.I will have to check when I get home this evening on the exact proceedure. I have a book on XP (an one on Vista) called Windows XP - The Missing Manual by David Pogue. Very helpful. I have relied on it many times as well as the Vista Version.

[quote name='piyushsingh']thanx for the reply smax> > but i want to do this without using any third party softwares,> > definitely there must be some way to lock a drive partition for a particular user by using admin rigts.> > or thru registry.> > :?:I don't know of any way with built-in Windoze functions to turn on or off USB ports. If your goal is to turn off the USB ports, then you will likely need third party software. The only way from within Windoze would be prevent access to files by user rights along the way that rgreen mentioned. It MIGHT (and I really mean MIGHT) be possible to allow only limited access to other users and then with your admin account, disable the USB drivers. This might deactivate the USB ports and the limited user accounts might not have enough access to re-enable the USB ports. I honestly have no idea if this would work or not...and I am not sure I would even want to try it myself.
