So i am REALLY confused about my internet conncetion. Here's the results::::.. First let's get the case of the B straightened out: b is bit and B is byte and 1 byte is equal to 8 bits and does play a role here, IMO. So is your connection 4 Megabits per second or 4 Megabytes per second? The speed test is showing about 1.43 MBps which is under that 4 threshold if it is bytes and not bits. So I wonder what is the issue here again?Regards,JB

it's 4 megabytes. The thing im asking is, why do i have a download speed of 1463 KB/s when i look here:http://www.dslreports.com/faq/comcast/1.BasicComcast_things#7072it says i should be expecting 550 KB/s, not 1463 KB/s. So my question would be, Where is the speed coming from?

No, if it is 4000 kbps this is a little under 4 megabits per second as the b is lower case and is very significant here as is the conversions up to kilo and mega which can be done in a couple of ways:Base 2 math OR Base 10 math1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes OR 1 kilobyte = 1000 bytes1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes OR 1 megabyte = 1000 kilobytesNow, if you use those on the left you may notice that 1 megabyte equals 1048576 bytes which is 48576 more than if you use the calculations on the left. Part of using statistics is understanding what is being said and I think you may be mixing up a few things here. To give a more concrete example, here is the data on my C drive:250,056,704,000 bytes which is 232 GB according to Windows. Now when I bought this it was advertised as 250 GB which at a billion bytes to a Gigabyte is correct. So, am I short 18 GB or is something else to blame like ambiguity of what is a Gigabyte? Another couple of points here are how far away is the testing server, over how many hops through what networks, and is anything else using the bandwidth you are testing,e.g. while the test was run were other things uploading and/or downloading from your machine, are just a few of the initial questions I'd have if you want to seriously dissect the test here.Regards,JB

ok, So i upgraded my connection today to a 8 meg service. The guy said a i had a 6 meg serviece before. here the new results::::.. Seems better than normal for an 8 meg service. I got between 4000 Kbps and 7500 Kbps for my service depending on where the speed test server was located. My service is supposedly 6 meg service.

ako3 - Normal? No way. Normal is much, much slower. I live in the boonies and have a choice of Satellite (47x dialup) or dialup. I would love to have even your older speed.Enjoy it.
