I am also unsure about the quickplay feature for HP, but you should be able to call HP (I know that really sucks when you have to call tech support and try to understand broken english) and they can tell you what is wrong. I have a remote for my media center and quickplay features that was included with my notebook, and I was wondering if you (or anyone) could tell me how to make that work.

Yeah, it all sounds easy, and really it should be. But my remote just doesn't work. I don't know if it's the battery or what. But I can't get my computer to respond to anything that I press. Do I have to activate the remote or something? And which way does the battery go in? The picture shows the "x" or the number facing up, so I tried that, but really neither way has yielded any result.

Guys - your HP dv9500's should have come either with a documentation disc, or the documentation somewhere on the Hard Drive. But you can download the manual from the HP website. Go to HP.com and from the main page select Support & Troubleshooting. Then when the search box opens enter the model number in the search box.It will then open a page and ask you to select what you want from a menu. Click on manuals. There will be a full page of them. I have downloaded and printed out:1. Notebook Tour - general description of Notebook and controls2. Drives - Information about the optical drive and replacing Hard Drives3. External Devices - using USB and Firewire devices4. External Media Cards - Digital Media Slots and Express Card Slot5. Remote Control - this is the PC Remote Control6. Setup Utility - this is the BIOS setup7. Touchpad and Keyboard - useful info on hot keys8. Wireless - covers Bluetooth, wireless and Wireless Wide Area Network (Cellular Based)9. Software Update, Backup and Recovery10. MultimediaAnd I haven't even ordered my dv9500 yet!Nidhi - I have not seen anything about using the dv9500 for karaoke. Where did you hear about this?

I appologize for the model no, confusion, but you can still go onto the HP website as I described and download all the manuals for the dv6500 series. Actually the only manual that will be significantly different is the Laptop Tour. That is why they broke them into sections.
A karaoke machine has to be able to play a source of music and at the same time merge microphone input directly to the speaker with the music coming from the source. I am not sure that the HP Laptops are set up to do that.
I find references to using the quick play buttons to play music, videos, show pictures, etc, but I find nothing in the HP specs about karaoke. Where did you find a reference to a "karaoke function"?
