Hello. Can anyone tell me how to access the boot configuration editor in Vista? I have tried to type in bcdedit.exe and it is telling me the boot configuration data store cannot be opened and access is denied even though I am logged in under an administrator account. Thank you

If you want to change to boot secquence, it is not in the Operating System, it is in the BIOS. This stands for Basic Input Output System. In the Pre-IBM PC days of Micro Computers it was called Boot Strap (the little straps inside boots to start them on your feet), hence the term today is still - Boot. When you first turn on the PC, you will get a flash of text across the bottom, one of which says "Hit xxx for Setup" xxx can be <Delete>, F1, F2, F10 or other keystroke depending on the BIOS version you have and manufacturer. You need to be quick, as you only have a few seconds. What is it about the boot process that you want to change?
