BTW, you might want to see if you can get a moderator to move this discussion to the Mobile phone community rather than the General Talk community. It might gain more attention there...not to mention that the General Talk community is kind of meant to be for non-technical/non-computer stuff.

I already sent her a PM about it.
It looks like there was something either in kirkcarnicom's post or something after it that screwed up the Java and created some sort of weird artifact/error on the page resulting in a long list of Java or something lines...but no additional posts appear after that post...but then all the posts repeat in a weird compressed format. Wonder if it had anything to do with Cosmo moving the discussion to the Mobile Computing community?

Yes, that error happens when people have the signature option enabled in their profile but nothing in the signature box. So please make sure to disable your signature if there is nothing there. Regardless, this should not spawn an error, and we'll work on fixing that. In the meantime, a little prevention is worth a pound of cure.
I now return you to your RAZR2 discussion.

Well, let me put in my two cents on the RAZR2. I personally like the style of it but I cannot see spending that kind of money on a phone. The phone I have now, which is actually not even sold anymore, cost $229 retail. I only paid $39 for it through my plan. However, I cannot see spending more than $200 on a phone unless this phone was draped in gold and gave me the winning lottery numbers. LOL

After "upgrade" price discounts, mail-in rebates, and service credits (for signing a new contract and for them screwing up and sending me a phone that was already activated on someone else's account), my new Treo 755p should effectively cost me less than $100. Not bad for a phone that lists at $580. B-)

I really like my Treo 755p (and the Treo 650 and Treo 300 before that). I can have my calender, my contacts, my email, etc. With Sprint's PowerVision, I can watch my TV/DVR on it using my Slingbox and the Palm Slingplayer software. I can hook it up to my laptop and use it as a mobile modem if I need to. I can use a Bluetooth GPS receiver along with TomTom software to have GPS route information when I need it. I can have games on it if I want. I can browse the web if needed (it is certainly not the greatest web browser, but it works for the limited browser needs on it that I have). I can read and edit Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents if I need. I can put MP3s on it and play them if I want (i.e. if I don't want to carry around my iPod but still want music). And there are a TON of third party applications that you can get to do all kinds of stuff.
Blackberry's are nice, but there are really best suited to people who need access to corporate email and Exchange servers. If you are using a typical POP or IMAP email account, then they don't really differentiate that much from other smartphones. To some degree, I think there are more third party apps for Palm based and Windoze Mobile based smartphones.
If you are not under contract, then you can get a reasonable good deal on a smartphone from Sprint. Since I believe you are already a customer for their wireless broadband, you might be able to wrangle a better deal. Never hurts to try.

I asked if there was a way I could get my phone sent via overnight express for more money..."Nope." By now, I am becoming upset. So I ask her how come, as a business owner, I cannot pay additional money to get a phone I need under the insurance protection plan that I have been paying for almost two years, "That's not my problem." I asked to speak to her supervisor, "I am the supervisor."
At this point, I said forget it. I called the Sprint store in my area and asked about the phones. I am going to go to the store today or tomorrow and pick out a phone. Since I am a Sprint business customer for almost two years, and since I have the mobile broadband internet plan, I can get $125 off any phone. Oh, and better believe I am going to drop the insurance. Why pay $7 per month for a service that obviously does not cater to customer; especially business customers?

Well, as you discovered, you can always pay more to get a new phone faster...it is called going out and buying a new phone yourself and not relying on the accidental damage insurance thingie to cover it. I can only say that you are subject to the fine print of the insurance agreement. No sense getting mad at them if you signed up for it and did not read the fine print and are now not happy with what you agree to. Having said that, it is kind of silly to not have an option to "speed" up the delivery of the new phone through insurance, but there might be a rather good bureaucratic reason (i.e. they probably have some paperwork to push around plus the time to actually ship it to you).
As to getting an upgrade phone through Sprint...double check the "discount". For personal use (i.e. non-business), they have gone to getting the same discount that new customers can get rather than some set rebate or discount. Or at least that was the case when I just upgraded. It used to be that after having a phone on a plan for 18 months, you would only get $150 of a new phone. This made absolutely no sense to me as new customers could get several hundred dollars of some of the smartphones with instant discounts and mail-in rebates. So, there was a period of time when I would have to pay more to get a new smartphone from Sprint than some person who is not currently a customer with Sprint, even though I had been with Sprint for about 8 years. Why on earth would you want to NOT give a similar deal to someone who is already a customer? That type of thing is basically a message along the lines of "we don't care about you as an existing customer...please drop us and sign up with one of our competitors who will give you a better discount on a new phone since you will be new customer to them". It appears that they have stopped that stupidity.
