Vista has a very strong parental control inbuilt. u can restrict access to anything u want , any folder , program , timed access, and lots of options.
Can anybody suggest a similar 3rd party software for XP pro with a strong parental control.

Hi Piyushsingh. I gave a few of my clients K9 Web Protection from Blue Coat. I do not think it is a household name but everyone that has it loves it and says it is exactly what they needed. Give it a shot.

Here is their main website for more information about the company and about K9 Web protection.

this seems to be an internet parental control , but i need a complete control type of utility which can also restrict access to other things rather than the net.

I have used and highly recommend the program called SafeEyes. It can send emails and reports to the account administrator whenever a certain term or website is hit (or even when certain types of sites are hit more than x times a day). It does not slow down your computer or connection at all, and is a breeze to use.

Hi HVM. I made the same assumption you did. I think Piyushsingh wants something that is all inclusive; something that can restrict access to certain applications and even files to certain times of the day. Am I correct in this, Piyushsingh?

Re-read the post, and I agree with you. Sorry if my post was not useful for your needs.

I do not know of or have used a program to block certain applications. I just closely monitor the accounts in question for the programs installed on it.

MPHEnterprises, I know why your clients LOVE Blue Coat!!!!!!

No suggestion here, not sure what to do for you, but I just had to post about this. B-)

I am so SICK and TIRED of Internet filters that decide they have to inspect the content from downloads. For example, ContentProtect now named NetNanny has to scan through each and every flipping file you download. So if you go to microsoft.com and download the 256 megabyte Service Pack 2, your transfer rate will not only be consumed but you'll wonder WHY is my Internet so slow? I've gone from a straight 356 kb/s rate all the way down to 200 and continues to decline all because of the internet filter. So, I wanted to find something else to use on my computer so that I could have Filtering along with fast web browsing. I did a search on google and found a program called Blue Coat K9 Web filter. This was even before I read about the post by MPH up above. The speed is amazing. Web pages open up like they are supposed to, and download speeds aren't effected by the Filter. It also has some really good categories to block out certain things. It automatically blocks out PROXY websites that kids can use to bypass filters, making it harder for kids to bypass Censorship. I've tried it and LOVE how it works.

:-) Hi Techie. I know this won't help Piyushsingh but... :D

Blue Coat has been good to my clients. Sometimes the lesser known applications are some of the best.

A couple of my clients have been using WebWatcher and they love it. It is $99.95 but it is worth it, you can check out their keystrokes, emails, IM's and set it up to look for certain words or phrases. You can check out some reviews at the 2 sites below.
