Alright, it seems like ever since the forum was updated to this new layout, both Firefox and Internet Explorer take about 7 seconds to load per page click. One minute it opens pages up at light speed, the next minute it won't even load and I have to click the page again for things to open. Anyone else having these problems? It's driving me nuts

Yes, it has been slow for me on IE on my desktop.

It loaded rather fast, however, in both Safari and Firefox on my MacBook Pro.

Don't know if it is the downloading or if it is the processor having to process a crap load of javascript.

Looks like I better try Opera and see if it makes a difference for a test run.

Hi Techie. It will not matter what browser you use. This is a problem on PCWorld's server end and they are in the process of improving this. I definitely see a difference between this system and the way the previous forum flows but I guess that goes with any change...growing pains.

Oh alright...
Patience is a virtue, right? ;-) I guess I can wait a couple seconds longer for the page to load as long as I know the forum guys are working on it.

I don't think you can... ?:| You click on "your stuff", "profile", and then signature is that text box at the bottom with no size buttons or anything on it.

I don't know if there is a problem on the PCWorld server or not...but I can tell you that the PCWorld's forums load a LOT faster on when using Safari on my MacBook Pro. Now, I cannot use the Rich Text editor when using Safari. That might explain it some...less javascript to load. But, there is VERY little pause on the forums site when I use Safari on my MBP...at least when compared to Internet Explorer on my Dell desktop. I will try Firefox on my MBP next to refresh my memory.

This message is from Firefox on my MacBook Pro. It loads just about as fast as Safari does. The only thing that seemed slower was when the page to type my post loaded...but that might be due to the fact that I can use Rich Text in Firefox, which I cannot do in Safari. My guess is that it takes longer because there is more javascript or programming to process and load. But, it is STILL significantly faster than Internet Explorer on my Dell desktop. I might try booting into Windoze in Parallels on my Mac and see if it seems faster there then my Dell (i.e. see if a faster processor might be part of it).

Until last October, I was still on dial up. On a good day it would connect at 26, down load would be at 1.75 kps. Then I went to satellite. Not as good as DSL, but a lot better. The last speed check was a little over 800, which is very good since they only say up to 750. Downloads are around 100 kps. Cloudless day, early in the morning. However, when we get heavy cloud cover, it goes to dead 0. X-(
