When I plug my compact flash card in to the card reader on my pc it shows no pics on that drive. When I plug it back into the camera all the pictures are there. Since these are pictures from my honeymoon I have to find a way to get them off the card. The camera is very old and is a Polaroid PDC 700, the flash is 1gb Crucial compact flash. I have tried all kinds of recovery programs and most show nothing wrong one of them errored off but it only errored once and second scan was fine. The really odd thing is when I plug it into the pc it shows the drive as empty and I can write to it and pull from it. Any Suggestions?

With the compact flash card inserted in your computer and opened up in Windoze (even if it shows up as empty), go to Folder Options under the Tools menu in the open window. Click on the View tab. Under the "Hidden files and folders" section, select "Show hidden files and folders". This might help...your camera might using hidden folders on the card.

Let us know if this does not work...although I am kind of at a loss if this is not it. If you right-click on the drive icon for the compact flash card (with the card inserted) and Select properties, what does the resulting window list as the Free Space?

I was really hoping I had missed that but I checked and all folders are shown. As far as what the PC says is available space is another oddity. If I look at the "drive" in disk management it shows a 992 mb drive. When I look at it in explorer it says it is 223mb with 28.4mb used and 195mb free. To complicate things more I took someones advice and ran chkdisk it found some errors and fixed them. it created some .chk files which I am trying to recover now. but when i put the card in my camera it doesn't show any pictures at all. So did I just blow all the pictures from my honeymoon and wedding?

Glad you were able to get to the pictures. Certainly would have been a bummer to lose your wedding and honeymoon pictures.
