I am a complete novice at this so I need help. I need a complete idiots guide on how to restore my laptop to factory settings. I am selling it and want to remove all of my crap from it. It is and HP compaq notebook. I don't have any other details on the system with me. But XP was installed on it from the factory. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Studge,

What is the Make (HP or Compaq) and Model Number of your Notebook. It should be underneath.
Did you get any Recovery of Restore Disks with the Notebook ?
Is there a partitionon in your Notebook (e.g. drive D:) with Recovery or Restoration software ?

Hi Sfudge. Once you respond to Wainui's questions, you can use his responses, as well as these links, to help you along your process. It is not hard at all.
