My computer just crashed like 5min ago. I was surfing on the web and all of a sudden i see the blue screen of death with this bios error or something. So i restart my computer and at the login screen i hear this zapping noise near my computer and boom it just shuts down on my all the power at my computer went out including my modem. So i turned off all the power supply and checked all the switches then turned on my computer and it was normal. What the hell could have caused this?

Seriously you should have your power supply checked, even though the blue screen appeared it could mean a power failure. About 3 weeks ago my comp was running normal and then i hear this zapping noise on startup and like the power supply literally sparks, luckily nothing was harmed, just got a new one and everything was cool. So have the power supply checked for the zapping noise, easiest way is to sniff it for an odd smoky smell.
Other than that you install any new apps?

well thats what i suspected too, i didn't smell any smoke though, i just heard a small zap like electricity or something but nothing was burning or anything, and nope nothing got installed. Im going to try and upload a pic of the power supply thing.

sorry i didn't say, what i meant was the computers Internal power supply that has all the power connectors for HDD's, CD-Drives, Fans, etc. Check that. ANd it looks like your computers in a nice and aired out place so it shouldn't be over heating.
If you've moved your computer alot in the last few days then open it up and check to make sure no wires are hitting fans, that would cause a zapping noise.

Um other than that i cant really think of anything else other than just a hic-up that might and might not happen again. How old is your system. From the looks of it, it can't be over a year and a half.

Hi Lilxkid. Do you mean the Surge Protector itself may be bad?

Best way to figure that one out is to switch it with another Surge Protector in your home. This may be a very random thing so it will be hard to pinpoint.

Well if it was 100% bad then your computer wouldn't be on now and we wouldn't be able to help you, so like mphenterprises said its going to be a very random thing.
