Hello, I have an icon on the bottom of my computer.....startup.......that I can not get removed. It is a spylocked icon and I don't know how to remove it. I am not very computer wise. Could someone help me? Also, I have an older Windows ME 2000 edition computer and I need to know which Anti-virus software to get. It seems as though I have a lot of viruses and do not know which software is the best and safest. Thank you for any help you can give.

:D Hi :
By what you posted I am unsure IF your Operating System is Win ME or Win 2000 !? Please clarify

because without knowing which One, I can ONLY make GENERAL Recommendations, not

SPECIFIC Recommendations . First off, what are the Name(s) of ALL the security program(s) on

your computer, and which ones are functioning !? Also would like to know the amount of "RAM" of

your computer ? The last I knew, the ONLY half-way decent FREE antiSPYWARE program for

a Win ME computer, is "a-squared free", available from

www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/ ; however, recently it has started having too many

"false-positives", so anything it "detects" should be "verified" on THEIR Online Support Forums at

[http://forum.emsisoft.com/Default.aspx?g=forum&c=2] . IF this program is compatible with your

computer, it MAY be able to handle your "Spylocked" problem !? Best to read my "Document" at

[http://forums.pcworld.com/docs/DOC-1172|d-1172] and follow its Advice .

Will discuss possible antiVIRUS programs AFTER you have answered the Questions I have asked .

Hello, thank you so much for taking the time out to help me. My computer is a Hew Pac Windows ME (HP Pavilon) with 128 RAM and I used to have Norton but have absolutely NO antivirus of any kind now except a yahoo spyware that seems to do nothing. I will type in a web address and it goes to other websites I didn't even want to see. I am sure there virus's on here. Thank you so much for your help. I don't mind paying for a good anti-virus or whatever it is I need. But it DEFINITELY seems as though there is someone(s) controlling or watching every move I make on this computer. I have a new laptop also from Dell that has windows vista and I have only had it for about 4 mths and it freezes up all the time and I hate it. But......I am just not a computer wiz. Thanks again! Cindy

:D Hi Cindy ,
I am not a computer wiz either; just a person who has some experience with computer-related security
Issues . Thanks for the additional Info; however, it generates more questions . Such as : Yahoo Spyware,
which is actually "powered" by Norton AntiSpyware ; does this mean you use a Yahoo-related Internet
Service Provider !? If yes, which one !? Is "Yahoo Spyware" installed on your computer or do you run an

"Online" Scan from it, perhaps by pressing a button on a Yahoo Toolbar, etc ?

For informational purposes, you should realize there are very few, if any, "viruses" nowadays ; the

"Term" is now "Malware", which covers the "categories" of Trojans, Worms, Keyloggers, generic

Dialers, Rootkits, and combinations of these, which is where "Spylocked" resides.

Since you have confirmed you have a Win ME Operating System computer, you probably realize there

are few security programs for it; at this point, I have found out one of my favorite FREE antiSPYWARE

programs, the FREE version of SUPERAntiSpyware from http://superantispyware.com, is compatible

with a Win ME OS, so install it, update it, then run its "Complete Scan" . However, this computer

barely meets its minimum RAM Requirements, so let me know if any problems !?

As for a good and FREE antiVIRUS program, I recommend Avast Home Edition, from

http://www.avast.com/] ; I am a Volunteer "Helper" on their Support Forums, but it should NOT be

installed UNLESS you do a through Search of your computer do make sure Norton is "gone" to the

best of your ability, perhaps by using your computer's "Search" or "Find" Feature . To get acquainted

with Avast, read THEIR "FAQ"s @ [http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-avast-4-home-professional.html] .

To start briefly on your Dell Vista Operating System computer, I recommend you go to

; read the Info there and CAREFULLY CONSIDER using the FREE

program there . Post back on your "Progress" and we will go from there . Let me know if

"SUPERAntiSpyware" resolves your "Spylocked" problem at least !?

P.S. I just reread your 1st Post; WHICH computer has "Spylocked" ?
