Im looking to buy a new laptop. I run Solaris X64 in a VM under XP/Pro 64-bit. I was looking at the tablet-PC's and they have a special OS called Windows Tablet-PC XP 2005 Edition.
I would like to find out if the Tablet-PC XP 2005 edition is a 64-bit OS, so that it can support my VMs and other 64-bit software. I have conflicting info from various sources which I cannot verify:
1) Vista is 32-bit ONLY, there is no 64-bit Vista
2) XP/Pro 64-bit already has Tablet-PC software which is installed if the system detects a tablet-PC is being configured.
3) Default Tablet-PC software does not work with Office software, either XP or Vista Office.
Question:
Is it possible to use XP/Pro 64-bit AND Tablet-PC software (including Office)? What combination of OS software do I need to get both 64-bit and Tablet-PC with Office compatability so that I can use the tablet to work with Office documents?

There is a 64-bit version of Vista. And it appears that Vista Ultimate contains Tablet feature support. According to this Micro$oft page (third paragraph of light black text):

"In addition, Windows Vista Ultimate includes support for all of the new mobility features in Windows Vista, including Windows Tablet and Touch Technology, Windows SideShow, Windows Mobility Center, and other new, advanced mobility features."

And down toward the bottom of the page, it has link to this page on 64 bit versions of Vista.

And I would think that Office 2007 should have no problem running in 64 bit Vista Ultimate. This document should give a little more information.
