Euro symbol changes to # Symbol in excel

Hi,
When i copy and paste some figures into excel the Euro sign changes to a £ symbol.



Is there a simple way to changeand stop this from happending in excel 2003?

Hi Zaphod. Well, the first thing you can do is remove any formatting that is in the given cells:

- After you paste the information into Excel, highlight all pasted information

- Right Click and click "Format Cells..."

- In the "Number" tab, make sure that General is selected

- Once you click OK, this should remove any formatting


Now, if that does not work for you, go back into the "Format Cells..." option:

- In the "Number" tab, click Currency

- Under the "Symbol" section, scroll down till you see the currency you want to use.

- Click OK

If neither of these work for you, please let us know.

That will probably do it...but if the symbol is actually a character that was typed, then it might not. If you need to type those characters, then this page will help. Now, if it is a character that was typed, then I don't know why it would be changing when pasting...
