Hey Everyone! I just have a simple question. How safe is ComboFix to use. Are there any issues with this program, you know, stable, good reporting of what it scans, or any other problems. I would like to make the experience but am unsure. Does anyone know or have used it with good or bad results. Thank You for your comments.

:| Hi Flash :

ComboFix is like HijackThis ; its Logs should be analyzed ONLY by those who have been trained by

Malware-fighting Experts . There are several Malware-fighting "schools" IF you may be interested in

learning more I would be willing to recommend !? The ONLY one on this Forum who is knowledgeable

on analyzing ComboFix Logs would be "TeMerc" .

Hey SpiritWind! Yes by all means, absolutly,if you could recommend anything online I would be most grateful. I have read TeMerc a little on the subject at WindowsBBS. I have also read that ComboFix was compromised by some sort of Trojan back in April. This was on Computing.net but, since I don't participate in that forum, I don't know how accurate their information is. Thank You for responding to my query Spirit, like I said Always There.

:D Hi Flash :

I saw something a couple of months ago about either ComboFix or SmitfraudFix being "compromised"

but the situation was fixed . The "School" I recommend to become knowledgeable about fighting

malware is "Malware Removal University", which is found at

forum.malwareremoval.com/viewtopic.php?t=233&sid=808537e545af83cf48f100a42e3890de .

My computer was infected with SCRIT malware over past few days. I tried SPYBOT to remove it. It removed some aspects but did not remove the Malware SCRIT program. I tried AdAware, with similar result.

I downloaded ComboFix and then did a scan with Internet connection off. Within 10 minutes the SCRIT malware was completely removed. High praises to a brilliant program. My system is now working completely normally.

Hey fastpiston!! Now , first of all, if these are the only programs to fight maleware on your PC , you could do allot better with ought having to pay. I'm just going to suggest a few one's here:

Firewall : http://www.afterdawn...oftware/networksoftware/firewalls/sygatepersonal_firewall.cfm . Take a look and read.

Anti-Virus : http://www.afterdawn...oftware/desktopsoftware/desktopsecurity/avgfreeedition.cfm . A V G .

AntiSpyware : http://www.superantispyware.com/ . One of the best free.

AntiSpyware : http://filehippo.com/downloadavgantispyware/ . This one has a trial with full protection and after 30 days stays on as a free version With Ought the full protection.

MultiPurpose : http://www.winpatrol.com/ . This one will alert you if anything tries to change the configuration of your OS

Now, to come back to Combo-Fix. Yes, it does a great job but, to be on the safe side ,why don't you visit this site and submit a HijackThis log . to make sure that all entries pertaining to SCRIT are absolutely gone .

http://aumha.net/ .

They are the people that Spirit recommended to me and are truly professionals.

Hey Everyone!!

Now, to all of you who have been looking at this thread for info. on ComboFix

There is one more piece of information that is very important.

First of all ComboFix should not be used by just anyone.

It is a very powerful piece of software and could, if not used properly,

erase important files on your system.

Second if you do use ComboFix successfully then there is one more

step that has to be taken in order to finish the procedure.

ComboFix has to be completely removed from your PC.

Go to Start*
Click on Run*
Type ComboFix /u (Note: This command is case sensitive*.) http://i149.photobuc.../CF_Cleanup.png

As you can see there is a space between the "x and the /

MAKE SURE you do this exactly the way I have writen it.

After removing ComboFix from your PC PLZ reboot.
