At last count you have two hardware issues that need to be resolved before you attempt a downgrade to XP.

What is the status of your memory? Did you ever determine whether its the module or the socket? If it is the socket, that would be covered under warranty and you do not want to turn a laptop in for warranty repair with an unapproved operating system on it, it would give them an excuse to void your warranty which should have several months to run.

What is the status of the mouse? Did you get it to sync and is it operating normally now?
