Are there atricles and/or data on digital camera displays going bad, no longer working, no longer functioning so they can be used to take pictures?

Are there places where a person can sell a digital camera where the display is kaput?

Alas! A trip to Europe and the display on my Canon PowerShot SD500 quit...all of those wonderful photo-ops....and to think that it happened with a Canon.
