Good evening;


We have a problem with 1.13GB of page files and I would love to get rid of them, but I can not find them. I've been in pretty much every folder of the system, as well as C: prompt. I can find them no where .Can anyone help me with this. what folders, folder/folder is it in

You can't get rid of the pagefile because it is a necessary part of windows, even if you had 32GB of ram.
Why do you think you have to get rid of it?
The pagefile isn't in a folder, but I'll tell you how to make it a smaller size if you want, if I can trust you to NOT remove it. If you do remove it you will soon realize that it is required and will receive various BSODs.

Hi Brokit. Welcome to PCWorld. :-)




As DDMS stated, Page Files are essential to your computer performance. Normally, the page file is set to 1.5x the amount of memory you have. Since you have 1.13 GBs of Page Files, I would surmise that you have about 750MBs of memory, correct?

Why do you feel you have a problem with them? Do you have a performance problem? What are your computer's full specifications?

768MB to be exact. Thank you very much. I am a clean freak and love working on our computers. I think if I hadn't seen the amount of swap/page files when I defraged, I'ld of not went off the deep end <s>. I appreaciate everyones help very much. I have reset the page files. " Why "? I don't know... Just wanted it to go away for a minute. LOL

If you want to optimize your swapfile and keep it from fragmenting you can set both values (initial and maximum) at 768.
