:D Hi :
Two of my fellow Volunteer "Helpers" on the Avast Antivirus Support Forums recommend
"Star Downloader" available from www.stardownloader.com/ ; the Info on this Site does NOT
directly say it is compatible with a Vista OS, but it is listed as such on
[http://www.iexbeta.com/wiki/index.php/WindowsVistaSoftwareCompatibilityList] .

Yeah after seeing the speeds people get here: http://forums.pcworld.com/thread/23374 Most people don't need accelerators. but I'm stuck with slow dsl, so everything helps.
I'm gonna try star downloader tonight when I get home. hopefully it works with firefox. :D

There is NO doubt that the best Download Manager is Internet Download Manager (IDM). It accelerates download by 5 times (it's not advertising, it's true) and has the best integration. IT could download from rapidshare without a premium account, ad it was the only download manager that could download from download.com. It almost downloads from ANY website. All the others download managers didn't make my download faster than 10% more. They all suck.
While, if you're talking about integrated browser download mangers, Opera's is the best. Firefox's really sucks. I tried to download a 100MB file in Firefox, then stopped the download. When I tried to resume, Firefox ended the download instead, bringing me a corrupt installation file. While with Opera, after stopping and resuming many times, it continued downloading smoothly and fastly.
That was all I got to say.

how did this old thread come up now. OK. so we have another IDM fan.
hi emperordarius
Truly IDM is the best , slightly better than DAP. And opera - ya again its better than FF , i use opera mostly. Download resumes are always a problem in FF plus the download window in FF is annoying specially when you save wallpapers.
