An attachment to email Notification from PCW

I've been having a strange thing happening when I receive email notifications from PCW and I thought that you might help me find the solution to this puzzle.
Ever since I entered the CONTEST Speed thread, every time I get an email notification, it shows up in my inbox with a paper clip. I know the paper clip icon indicates there's an attachment, but there's no attachment. Has that ever happened to you?
I must have done something wrong, but I don't know what nor how to correct it. Could you guys offer some suggestions/solutions? Thank you!

Hi mph. Yeah, it's on ALL of them! Could this be due to the new and improved PCW format? I wonder if other people are getting the paper clip icon too. I mean, it's really no big deal if it's just a part of the upgrades. I just thought I'd done something wrong.
Hi, Kellie. I noticed that we're now receiving email notifications when someone responds to a blog. THANK YOU, that's awesome!

Well, I just did a test using Outlook and using the online email account and both of them do not show the paper clip icon within any of the email notifications. So, it could be the way your email server or online email account is processing the email.
As Techie suggested, we would need to see a screen shot of what you see. Please only show us the PCWorld emails and try to block out anything that is not pertaining to this specific situation.

I just realized that art209 is getting the paper clip icon also. It does not show up in the body of the email notification, but rather next to it when it shows up in my inbox.
For me, to get a screenshot might be tricky, it has never worked for me whenever I tried it before. !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/
1! ooooh, sooo sad...

Hi Art & Adama - Can you both tell us what email server you use? Adama, I believe you mentioned that you use Yahoo, correct? Yes, I know that the icon would be beside the line entry of the email in the inbox but I think this may have something to do with how the emails are being read by the email server.

Email notifications to blogs have always been there, but you may have not received them due to the same bug that prevented you from getting notifications on PMs. This is set in the Your Stuff > Preferences menu. You can check "yes" or "no" to receive notifications on blogs that you write.

Yes, I am receiving the forum notices in Yahoo web mail. All of these emails indicate an attachment in the list of emails by showing a paper clip in the attachment column, but there is no indication of an attachment in the body of the email. Currently, I'm unaware of any other emails received with this indication unless they actually had attachments. It's interesting, but it isn't a concern. Adama is always coming up with interesting tidbits that I wouldn't think of otherwise (such as the Vista auto defrag which caught a number of us by surprise).

Hi Art and Adama. I would like to do a test. If either of you would like, please send me your email address via a Private Message. I will send you three mails, one with a .doc attachment, one with a url hyperlink, and one without an attachment. My gut is telling me that Yahoo is considering the url as an attachment. Why, I have no idea. But if either of you would like to test this theory, let me know.

I have the same situation. I use Earthlink and usually leave the messages on their server for a while through their webmail service so I can access the messages from any internet connected PC. I then pull down the ones to keep and archive them in Outlook Express. However, since I don't keep the PC World e-mail notifications, I don't have any from before the conversion, but I recall that fact catching my attentiion.
I just dismissed it as an inconsequential quirk, never considering that different e-mail handling systems would handle that aspect differently.

Well, since you and Art both came up with the same result, I am not sure what's happening. This might be one of those issues that, like RGreen mentioned, is a quirk of the forum setup.
Hi RGreen. You mentioned that you see it within Earthlink's online email. Do you see it in Outlook Express?
