All true,....................however,..................optimal ,operating temp. ( which means, higher frame rates ), is BELOW, 50 deg. C. I have seen some "Guru's", expouse, that anything over 40 deg. C, will have an adverse affect on INTENSE gameing ( most modern games ), .........this is of course , in relation to GPU temp.'s, ................CPU temp.'s, while similiar, are not identical, and is relative to the CPU, in question.

Keep in mind , this is for OPTIMAL, performance,.........on modern games.

Do u have any idea where I can look up how to check my GPU to see if it set up on both processors and if so how I can change it to single processor?



A friend of mine told me it was in the advance settings under my GPU's control panel but I looked all over the place and did not see any where to change this or even see what it is currently set up on.

What OS are you using?


You CANNOT force your GPU, to work, only on one CPU, in a multicore setup,...........you can force APPLICATIONS on to a single CPU, If you have the proper OS.

GPU coolers, are available from most on line retailers, like newegg , go there and look through the MASSIVE amount of alternatives, including , water blocks.

Hi spike, arther said his GPU temp at 59 degrees C. That is the same reading I am getting on the 8600 GT I have in here. I was getting a 66 C reading on the 8400 I had in here. I haven't noticed any performance problems, just a minor irritation with something called nTUNECmd popping up saying it can't load baseline.npe. AS I said minor irritation as I think the nTuneCmd utilities are for the nForce MOBOS which I don't have, so I can just unistall them. Back to the GPU temps, it sounds as if they are pretty consistant between his card and mine,so it may be normal for the GPUs to run at this temp. He said he had a 1000w (WOW!) PSU, I only have half that. It could be just the game coding that is causing the slow down. I got one that is slow, when you transistion from one area to another, or reloading after a save. This is definately a coding issue and everybody playing the game experiences it. Some games just look graphically better than others. I don't remember if arther said he tried a demo for something like Crysis. That would definately test your system. coastie65

..........And...since this is an online only game,.....intrnet latency, comes into play, and can/will ruin game play,.................. that, added to a slightly too hot system, can cripple you, in tearms of graphics/game play/frames per second.

Don't get me worng EQ2 runs great BUT I do from time to time notice a wave like lag kinda like slow motion of sorts. I ran FRAPS on EQ2 and noticed in several zones I am getting FPS in the teens and some times it even drops into the single numbers. This is what mainly worries me why would I be getting such crappy FPS with the set up I have.



And yes I did DL the Crysis demo and maxed it out (as far as dx9 goes) and it ran great with no problems, I guess I could try and play the demo again and run FRAPS to see what I get.



And again that temp I am seeing for my GPU is with OUT even playing a game will try to remember to check it while I am playing to see if it really changes.

Quick question about this site you told me about. I did run the scan yesterday and it came back with a few suggestions the one that stuck out the most was the internet settings. I stated that there are several settings that can be changed (by useing their tune up tool) that can increase my internet effectivness by as much as 200%??? Can this be true, it says something about defaults for O/S and ISP are the always set at the bare min and by doing this I would notice a big diffrence in my internet capability??


Have you heard of this and can it really be true?

That way I don't have to post 3 or 4 diffrent post to answer all the diffrent questions and just do it in one post.

Hi Arther. Yes, that is definitely true. Now, specifically what settings need to be changed, I am not sure. However, I know that certain settings can be altered and adjusted to increase bandwidth, etc. You may have to speak directly to your ISP to confirm this. I have never used this Tune Up Tool; however, I would gather that this application costs money.

This may be a question for SMax to make suggestions. If this post piques his interest, I am sure he would know what specific settings you would have to change within your computer.

The easiest way to include the original message within your post is to use the quote feature. I am not sure if Rich Text works since I only see Plain Text; however, you should see a quotation mark in the header of each post screen. When you click on it, you should see all of the original post.

Now, in the previous forum format, the entire Discussion was visible when you wanted to post a response. I believe this is going to be available in an update of this forum. Until then, if there are several posts that I want to post a response, I copy and paste each of them into my response field and then answer each. It is a bit hard to explain but when you click on the quote option for the first time, you will see what I mean.

Hi, Arther. It's easy to do. When you hit the Reply button, you get a blank page where you can post your answer. Up in the header, on the left of the smilie face, there are two "quotes" (they look like little clouds). Hit that and you immediately have the person's answer inside your page.

Another thing you can do too is you can delete part of their response, to leave only what you want to talk about, just like I did above with yours.

The "quote" button looks like:

...in the Rich Text mode at least. In the Plain Text mode, it looks like a quotation mark (i.e. ") symbol.

Actually, I don't really know much about this area. I have never really had the need to "tweak" my settings, so I have never really learn about if it is really possible and if so, how to do it.

Yea I guess what I will do is buy that tune up program think it was $29.99 per year but seems to be a good tool so might be worth it. Once I get a chance to sit down and go through the tool/scan again I will try to post the suggestions is offers here.

I still need to d/l that free version of 3DMark and do a bench test which then I will try to post results here as well, thanks guys for the help so far more to come.
