Hi,
I have a system with these specs -
AMD AM2 Dual Core 4200+;
Gigabyte motherboard;
1GB RAM;
160GB HDD;
Installed Ubuntu Linux 7.1 and Windows XP;
One fine evening, I connected my external USB HDD (desktop hdd) to it, while running Windows. I removed the power to the HDD accidentally within a couple of seconds of connecting it. With this, the screen froze. There was some music playing which just stopped and repeated the last 0.5 seconds over and over. I thought that restarting the PC would solve the issue, but it's not! Ever since, when I power up the comp, the screen doesn't show anything , the mouse doesn't light up (optical one), the keyboard LEDs for num lock etc blink once during boot up and after that only num lock works - once in a while.
The hard disk works during this and the CD rom works. Please tell me what could be the problem Posted Image
Thanks,
Akella

Hi, akac.

First, make sure that external hard drive is unplugged from the PC. I've seen that stop a boot.

Have you tried booting from a CD or DVD?
