When i try and start the Witcher game it sends my computer to a blue screen and restarts my computer, no other games I have have ever done this and I play up to date games like Crysis and Unreal Tournament 3, I have the latest updates and patches installed for the witcher and it wont start, the funny thing is, i have started the game a couple times before and played through a few levels and now it does not start, i have made no changes to my computer or the game since it last worked, it just does not want to start up all of a sudden. Anyone know what the deal is here?

Hi tom, yeah it is unfortunate as that is good game. Unfortunately, there some serious problems with it. There are a load of complaints on their forum. I loaded and installed the one patch still get lock ups to the point where I haven't played it lately. There is supposed to be yet another patch to be released before Christmas. You know there were a lot patches released for Neverwinter Nights. It could be something to do with that Aurora 2007 engine that bioware used. Oddly enough, I haven't heard any complaints from the European crowd, mostly US and Canada. I might go back to the forum and register a complaint with the developer myself. :D I think, if and when they get the bugs out, it will turn out to be a good game from what little I've played it. coastie65

I went back to their forum and was reading through the posts. I couldn't find anything negative except that some did mention the crashing. If you happened to notice the fine print on the box, it said it had been "certified" on a Dell XPS 720 and an M1710 ( must be some European Job). I looked up the Dell and it isn't a wimp machine by any stretch. I may do an uninstall and reinstall and make sure all my active Anti spyware and Anti virus is turned off as is recommended although I'm pretty sure that was when I installed it. As to why you can't even install it is beyond me. I am running an Intel 925 Pentium D ( 3.0 Ghz ), 2 Gb DDR2 533 Mhz Ram, Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS 256 DDR2 PCI-E card. I don't know if this will handle Crysis or not but it does play Oblivion at ultra high with all the settings cranked up to max or near max. I've also had my res settings at 1024x768. I may mess around with that some, either up or down and see what happens as I seem to also have some issues with the frame rate. Although there seems to be a lot of people playing and enjoying the game, I don't think the game was ready for release, far from it. Brings back memories of one called Dungeon Lords, that thing got trashed for the same reasons ( it wasn't ready). It disappeared from the scene. Although they released some patches, they ignored other complaints such as dungeons with no Monsters or Bosses. There were a host of problems that they didn't address, it was as if they didn't really care. They were done with it and it was released, end of story. Maybe this will get fixed then again maybe not. It is a shame, as this game looked really good and could have put CDPROJECKT on the map. coastie65

Hi tom, you didn't say anything about the specs of your rig. As I said in an earlier post, it didn't run for me either. I was running an 8400 GS GeForce card. Well as it turns out, that was one PS poor card. I bought and installed a GeForce 8600 GT and the game runs great and looks some kind of good. I just got around to downloading the Demo for CRYSIS to see if this old decrepit eMachines could handle it. It checked my hareware and gave me a LOW setting. I overrode it and set the whole shebang to HIGH. It ran great and looked good. CRYSIS is not really my kind of game but thought I would use the Demo to check out the hardware. coastie65
