PC World is working on a story about social networks, and we want your input! Please share which social networks you belong to, which you like best (or least!) and why. We're looking for opinions on both mainstream sites (MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc) as well as smaller, newer, niche sites.
Tell us your experiences and opinions with social networks, and you could be featured in an upcoming PC World story!

I use MySpace, because A) it allows the most freedom to edit your profile versus FaceBook or Frienster, et al. and B) because that is what all of my friends use. I am glad that MySpace is tightening up on security, though once I hjad my account cracked. . .

I guess this site qualifies a both a social network and gaming companion. It is www.jact.com and I was one of the first members since a few former co-workers started the company. Jact is trying to build a solid community of pc gamers and offer them a growing number of game related services. The basis of the site is earning points for playing pc games, similar to earning credit card points or airline miles. They make the service completly free and welcome feed back from all its users. The mall has steadily grown and they have cool raffles every month (even a wii and ps3 so far). Look into them if your looking for cool up and coming niche site that seems to have a real good concept. I want to see these guys stick around becasue i see alot of value in to what they are trying to accomplish. Check them out.

I use facebook (Surprise!). I like it because, if you edit your privacy setting like me, you can set your profile to relatively private. One thing I hate is that the apps that people add to their profile, they clog up there profiles so much it takes 5 minutes to load and 2 minutes to get to there wall. Personaly i have 4 applications that i use all the time, some of whcih arrent even on my profile. One more thing, Beacon. That was a huge invasion of privacy, and if ever something like this happens again, im gone. Overall, facebook's (use to be) clean interface in combination of ease of use make up for its (somewhat) questionable privacy policies.

I used to be anti-SNS for the longest time. Eventually I got fed up that I couldn't see my friend's pictures from a get-together or receive the invites that were sent out just because I didn't have a silly account. That's how it got start, and when I was continually notified of new msgs and updates via email, I developed a habit of logging into Facebook--as regularly as my email account. I now use it primarily to keep in touch with acquaintances and friends who live in different cities. It's nice to keep in touch without commiting to long-winded emails, especially since we're so busy.
I now use a new SNS called MakeFive (http://www.makefive.com). I use it because they really encourage you to meet new people, based on similar opinions and thoughts. Most SNS out there just try to get you to get in touch with current friends. It's nice to be able to find new 'friends'.
I don't depend on SNS for my social 'health' but I find that it's a nice additional source of keeping in touch and meeting new people.
