Where have I been all my life? It's the first time I see such a ridiculous title for an article? ROTFLMAO!
Well, I enjoy all the benefits of Windows 7 Ultimate x64 for free since January 2009. And it rocks! Lightning quick. Flawless. Robust. What else can I say? Hmmm... It's good and free till at least Feb 2010. After which when Windows 7 is released, shouldn't cost more than Vista Ultimate ($165) by searching PCWorld... Okay, even if it is $200, I'll still buy it the day it comes out. And I fully expect Windows 7 to come out this year in 2009.
Oh yeah, I use XLiveCD ^1^ and Putty to interoperate with my Unix systems. Can ssh anywhere and everywhere. Run X anywhere too! Right from Windows 7 or XP for that matter. FileZilla is pretty cool for sftp, also from within Windows 7 or XP... Eclipse and Tortoise SVN also run superb under Windows 7 or XP. And finally, whenever I need Linux, I don't bother installing it, I simply plop the DVD in, and boot! What could be simpler than using any of the hundreds LiveCD? Basically, who needs Linux unless one wants to get it for free and not pay any licensing fee? Oh don't forget most if not all of the Open-Source software also runs under Windows... Any flavors...
Did anyone know that Windows is the perfect cross-development platform? No? Why not google: Results 1 - 10 of about 4,170 for cross platform development using open source atmel. (0.12 seconds)
This document is an eye opener... For developers only!
PS: Windows 7 did away with the UAC. You can run as a normal user, installing whatever programs, you will only get one popup, asking for the Administrator equivalent ID, and that's it. That's all. No more excuses running as Administrator/root under Windows. PERIOD. Bye bye, all the viruses and malware...

^1^ I simply mount the ISO (any ISO) with the help of freeware such as daemon-tools, much better than loading 12,000+ files in cygwin, it takes less than three to five seconds to have a fully running X 11 in any Window platform... On demand!
