Safeway, huh? I buy a lot of things at Safeway, but a few years ago when I tried their "health" food, the peanuts were stale and tasted rancid.
So now I buy my cereals at Whole Foods (two different kinds,) they taste pretty good and they don't have all that sugar and extra stuff that regular cereals have.

Well it took me quite a long time to find this old thread but it was worth it, because I have something to celebrate.
After not being able to drink coffee for the past 10 months, today I had coffee with my breakfast! I made scrambled eggs, had two slices of toast with cream cheese and a bit of french strawberry jam. A small glass of oj, water for my vits, and COFFEEEEEE!!!

1! OMG! it tasted sooo good. But I didn't want to overdo it, so I ended up only having 1/2 a cup of coffee.
Then I sat back and waited... I honestly felt a real BUZZ!!! I felt nervous and excited and was running around doing stuff... and the best part of it all ~ no heart flip-flops!!! So, I had Loads of Fun after my coffee adventure this morning!

Hi Piyush, sorry it took me a couple of days to get back to you. I've had company for the last couple of days.
To answer your question, last summer it was really, really hot here in Northern California and I was drinking a lot of Coka Cola. One day in August, after drinking my 2nd Coke in a row, my heart started skipping beats - I call it "flip flop" - and it was pretty bad. I didn't have any pain, but the flip flops wouldn't go away, they would last all day long and during the night too, so I did get a little scared.
After a couple of days of the flip flops, I called my Sister in Law (who has been a nurse for about 25 years) and she told me to stop drinking anything with caffeine in it. But whenever I ate anything with sugar in it, I would get the flip flops too. So I had to stop drinking all Sodas, Gatorade, juices, eating anything with sugar like chocolate, ice cream, cookies, candies, and the list goes on... One cup of coffee used to be a daily thing for me, so at the beginning I missed it a lot and that's when I started drinking Green Tea by Yogi Teas, and I did fine with that.
After about 6 months, I started eating toaster waffles again and no flip flops, so I eat those about twice a week now. I'm still not eating any chocolate, but I allow myself to have a chocolate croissant once or twice a month, and I found some low on sugar cookies at the Health Food Store and I'm doing fine with all of that.
Needless to say I've dropped a lot of weight too, I went from a size 18 to a size 12, and I really, really like that!

So that's why I was celebrating last Sunday, having my first cup of coffee with breakfast, for the first time in 10 months!!! Phew, that was a long explanation :p

Hey Adama, I've been there and done that. What you had sounds and awful lot like Ventricular Palpitations or PVCs ( Preventricular Contractions ). I think they both might be the same thing. Your Sister in Law was right in telling you to stay away from the stimulants. That is why I had to be careful with my allergy meds. They now keep those with the stimulants behind the counter, so I know that what I get off the shelf is OK. I still have my two cups of coffee a day with no problem. I drink Coke Classic Decaf. Incidentally, Green Tea is a stimulant. I went through that weeks on end for several years. I'd wake up in the morning feeling fine and as soon as I got my coffee, here we go. I also have problems with Atrial Fibrillation, usually if I'm off my medication for some time and I get stressed. Now that will really rattle your cage if you don't know what is happening. There is chest pain associated with that, with a super rapid heartbeat AND a possibility of a clot developing as a result. Take your daily Aspirin and you'll be OK, but it should be looked into. They'll most likely put you on Digoxin / Lanoxin and that controls it pretty well. If I sound somewhat matter of fact about it, I guess I am as I have been through it more times than I care to think about for over 20 Years. It certainly doesn't feel good, but it isn't life threatening either as general rule. coastie
