I don't really own too many games and there
aren't very many good games for gamecube so i'm looking to upgrade.Which should
I purchase?Wii, 360, PS2, or PS3?I'm leaning towards 360 because it is
inexpensive and has HD.The PS3 is a little out of my price range but I'm
putting it up there on the list anyway. The only other system I won is a PSP.

Good luck getting a Wii if that is your choice. They are still rather hard to come by.

Well, if you're looking at XBOX, I would go for the Xbox Elite, as you can play the Xbox games as well as games for the Xbox 360. With the PS3, you can play the PS2 games and PS3 games. As for the Wii, you'll have to be patient if you want one of those. I've been hearing of people paying twice the retail price on sites such as ebay. As for the Xbox and PS, it depends on the HD format you prefer. The Xbox is HD, whereas the PS is Blueray. I guess it depend on what games you are most interested in playing and getting the system to play them on. coastie65

The Wii sold out a few weeks before Christmas; you may be able to get one in a couple more months, if you don't mind waiting.

Sounds like Coastie got it right, with XBox you'll have a lot of games you can play on it. :)

It depends what games you like

Wii- family games, mario games, casual gaming
PS3- Sort of hardcore but doesn't have that much good Games like assassin creed, sports game, or intense games
Xbox360- Hardcore gamers Halo 3, Gears of Wars, COD4 etc,

Hey philly, You know they were bought by Dell don't you? We have a boutique PC company here in Richmond. Ever heard of Velocity? Getting back to AlienWare, knowing they were bought by Dell, kinda chills the selling point a bit for me. Also, you can build your own and get the same horsepower for a lot less money than you would pay them. coastie65

I would look at the wii (depending on where you live they do have a few in stores) if its going to be for all ages to use. if its an older Person (over 21) I would look at the ps3 if you can find an 60 or 80gig unit the 40 gig I was told can not play ps2 games. of the 20 xbox 360 owners i know only 2 have not had to have there xbox fix due to the red ring.

Hi rtfire, Over 21 is old? I've passed 21 twice already and I don't think I'm old. :D Yet. Actually I've been hearing that they're starting to use the Wii for rehab for stroke victims and such. People of all ages are enjoying the Wii. As for those that are paying $400+ for a Wii on those online sites, that is crazy. I did bid on a couple of PS3s at ebay, but when those nuts ran the price over the original retail price, I said enough. I will probably get a PS3 80 Gb console while I still can, and I know of a few places around here that still have them. To give you example of ebay. I was looking at a Pentium D 950 processor that was used. I'm not real big on used processors, but the top bid was $25. I checked the seller and he had a very good rating. I asked the seeler about the processor and got a satisfactory answer, so I placed a bid and set my maximum at $50 as that was all I was wiiling to pay for a used processor. Long story short, it went for $116. You can check used game stores such as GameStop or EB Games as they sell used consoles and Some new ones as well. Bottom line is don't get impatient and you will do quite well. coastie65

ITman: Having followed the evolution of video games from the beginning, starting with the original PONG game to the Atari then to Sony's generation of consoles from the oroginal Playstation to the PS2 and PS3, I think that if you save your bucks and go with the PS3, you'll be happier in the long run. The PS3 will play all the PS2 games besides the stuff released for the PS3 and Blu-ray DVD's too. The cross section of games to play is huge and there is a large library of stuff for preschool and learning games for the early school children too. This really fits into just about any generation and beyond. My adult children even found that some of the games make for excellent workout programs without them even realizing it. I'm talking about Dance, Dance Revolution in particular. Good luck in your choice.

[~50619], I think the wii is more geared to familys where the ps3 is geared to 21 and over. I love that my 2 year old can play the wii and my grand mother who is 75+ can play it to (which is why i might be getting one to night). both are great boxs and the bestbuy down the st from me had 2 wii's left and gamestop had a used one they sold when i was in there this weekend.

Hi rt, That was my point, people of all ages can play the Wii and enjoy it. Seniors for the most part, would probably not find much, to enjoy about the PS or Xbox. On the other hand, it is ridiculous to go out pay exorbant prices on the internet, when using a little patience will get you what you are looking for. coastie65

Hi rt, I thought that was great. :D I'm 61 and have a boatload of Games for this PC. I had some problems last Summer that prevented any gaming on this thing for a bit. My Nephew, comes over during the day in the Summer when school is out, so I ended up buying a PS2 to keep him entertained, until I got the computer fixed. I now have about a dozen or so games for the PS2 as well. Although I was gaming on an old Commodore 64 and then 128, My nephew rekindled my interest in gaming when he showed up years ago with a Gameboy Color and a Zelda game, and I haven't looked back. Now that he is 14 and discovering girls, I am kinda on my own as he hasn't been doing a lot of gaming except for his file in Oblivion when he comes over. I believe the Wii has introduced a whole new generation to gaming and I think that is great. It gives them something to do and they get a little exercise in the deal. coastie65

That's the first I've heard of anyone building a PS2 out of junked ones. This PC is an eMachines that I've kinda ramped up a bit. It came with a Pentium D that I've changed out and bumped up from 2.6 Ghz to 3.0 Ghz and I'm thinking about bumping to 3.4 Ghz. It did have a PCI-E slot, so I put a GeForce 8600GT in there plus ramped up the memory to 2 Gb. Also, Boosted the power supply from 300w to 500w. That is about all I can do with this thing, short of changing out the MoBo so I can run faster memory. At present it is 533 Mhz and I can't go to 667 Mhz or 800 Mhz. I am also thinking about doing a build, but haven't made up my mind yet. Guess I'll buy another copy of Win XP MCE just in case though. Have fun with the build. coastie65

back when they had the problem with ps2 dvd drives dieing my freinds got one that had been drop in a pool off e-bay and we popped in the dvd drive and it worked untill two days after he got his ps3. so that gave me the idea of going throught the juch ones I had (the one that went swiming was one of them. the thing works great. I love modding pcs right now much to my girlfriends sadness I am looking at upgrading my laptop from 2gb to 4gb and getting a second hd for it.
