Many of you know I work with training Adult Scout Leaders, and there is a training program called Wood Badge which is how to train young leaders. The participants are divided into patrols and once in a patrol, you are a member of that patrol for the rest of your career. A friend who knows that I am a Bear, send me something a while back that I would like to share with all of you.
I have made many special friends through this community and I would like to "bless" all of you.

My dad went through Wood Badge training about twenty something years ago. Wood Badge is quite the training program, and only a few succeed. He has been involved with Scouting ever since he was 8 years old, and is now 44, so he's quite the champion. The only thing I have higher than my dad though would be the rank of Eagle Scout. During my father's age of elgibility he didn't receive the support needed to progress anymore, but my parents made sure that I progressed.

Now I just need to get through Wood Badge training!

Scouting teaches values.

If you get the opportunity, by all means take it. The new Wood Badge course, Wood Badge for the 21st Century, is a far different course that what you dad took. That is the course I took and was priveleged to serve on two of the new courses and then this past February and March serve as the Course Director for our Local Councils course. We only put one on about every 2-3 years as we are a very small council. The have expanded the leadership training and eliminated the "mickey mouse" stuff.

I was kicked out of Girl Scouts as a child, for being a bad influence on the other girls. Heh.

Hey Kellie, Good to see you. Bad influence huh? My whole Boy Scout troop was a bunch of misfits, but we had fun. :D coastie

Coastie: Some of the best times and the rowdiest group was our Boy Scout troop. My parents were very much involved and that gave me a special place in the troop.

Hey mjd, you'e right about that. My Dad was involved with our troop. I remember we had a campsite that was donated and and each group with in the troop, built their own log cabin. Once that was done we built the headquarters Cabin. The Scoutmaster and the Dads stayed in that one. It was a lot of work, but we sure enjoyed it afterwards. We had heaters in the cabins and camped in the dead of winter. The Circuit City Corporate Offices now occupies the spot where our campsite was, or it is pretty darned close to it.

Also, did you notice that the avatars are blank? ?:|

Hey Adama, Big OOPS. I was answering what I thought was a new post from Kellie. I didn't look at the year on the date stamp. Hers was Dec.23 2007 and my reply was Dec. 23, 2008. Guess I'm a little slow in replying. :^0 Incidently, all the avatars are there.
