About two days ago my web browser started scrolling by text. What I mean by this is that instead of scrolling normally if I press the up / down keys, it goes by the lines of text on a page as if it were a Word document.

I have no idea how I got this to happen, but it is driving me crazy. If anyone knows how I can fix this, please tell me.

Windows XP in Firefox.

Hi, Zomic. That's a strange thing, having Word-like scrolling within your Web browser.

I don't know if the capable people here at PCW have noticed your problem. Perhaps you can re-title your thread - make it more specific - something like: "Weird Scrolling Text While Browsing FireFox."

It is only a suggestion, though. Good luck to you.

Hi Zomic and welcome to PCWorld. :-)

First, as Adama suggested, I have renamed your Discussion to give a better description of your problem. Now, the only thing I can suggest to you is to uninstall whatever version of Mozilla Firefox you have and make sure you download the latest version directly from Mozilla. As of today, the latest version is 2.0.11 and is available by clicking this hyperlink.

If that does not solve your problem, please post again and let us know.

Hey, follow these instructions when you in firefox:

* Go to tools(top left corner)
* Options
* Then go to advance and then
* can you see a box ticked that says "Use autoscrolling?
* That box must be ticked.
* and not the box saying "use smooth scrolling"

Good Luck and welkom to PC WORLD :8}

Those are good suggestions, mph and Vlad.

I wonder if the person who posted this discussion forgot all about it...?

No, I didn't forget! :P

Thanks for your help. What it turned out to be was the option "Always use the cursor keys to navigate pages" was selected. Turning this off fixed my problem. I'm not sure it got turned on in the first place as I didn't turn it on and no one else uses this computer.

Thanks again!
