Hello,

My computer has been infected with the "I LOVE MY PEANUT" virus. Everytime I right-click on any drive, the option that usually says "OPEN" has been replaced by the words, "I LOVE MY PEANUT"! I've searched and scanned every drive with McAfee with negative results. Don't know what else to do. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Please help!

Have you tried scanning with any other anti-virus?

McAfee is a junk scanner and a waste of money. It's notorious for missing a lot of viruses and having a slow scan.

I'd recommend using NOD32 to see if it finds anything ( There is a trial version here ), as it's one of the best anti-virus scanners out there.

Let us know if NOD32 picks up anything.

Hi Cosmo,

Thanks for the quick response. Yes, I will download and give NOD32 a try. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks again,

I agree with Cosmos 2 thoughts, that McAfee is a less than stellar scanner, and that NOD 32 is one of the better, if not the best AVs out there.

If you want, you could try a couple online scanners and see if they can take care of it for you.
Trend Micro House Call* (you might be prompted to allow an active x, allow it for this scanner to work)
BitDefender* It's on the left hand side of the web page, you'll need to use IE for this scanner.

First of all, thanks to all who responded. Mr. Techie-4fun, I'm running on Windows XP Pro. CPU is Intel Dual 2 Core E6600, MOBO is Asus P5B-E Plus. I will try all your suggestions. I understand this virus is quite rampant. Will post results ASAP..

Merry X-mas!

:D Hi :

Being somewhat the Security "Expert" on these Forums, you should NEVER have 2 different

antiVIRUS programs providing "real-time" protection on a computer, so IF you are going to INSTALL

NOD32, you should COMPLETELY REMOVE McAfee from "Add or Remove Programs" AND use

the "McAfee Removal Tool" ; it is quite all right to run ONLINE Scanner(s) from various antiVIRUS

companies . I never heard of "I Love My Peanut" & there is no mention of it in a Google "Search" .

To see how prevalent WHATEVER you have is, upload "it" to www.virustotal.com and let us

know the "Name(s)", if any, other Security Programs call "it" . I highly doubt you have a "virus", but

something more serious .

Do you have any antiSPYWARE/antiTROJAN program(s) on your computer ? If yes, WHICH One(s) .

Thanks for all your help. I found the fix! If anybody is having the same nagging problem, download this file and vanish the malware. I'm not guaranteeing its safety, all I know is that it worked for me. Here is the file: www.fileupyours.com/files/111419/anti-IMGkulot.zip

Here is how I discovered it. You have to understand Tagalog or have somebody translate some of the texts from Tagalog to English.

Hope this will prevent further spread of this malware.

Happy Holiday!
