I trust no one--not even Mint.com.

I trust Bank of America to send me alerts via their automated alerting system.

It is ridiculous to pay someone to track your accounts. That's the job of the place who has your account. If they fail to protect you, take your business elsewhere and sue for damages.

I would never provide all my financial institution login data to any organization. Even inadvertent release creates serious hassles, and some outfit seems to lose lists of customers with SSANs etc almost every week.

You've got to be kidding!!! All that financial data located in one place, I don't think so. It's not that I don't trust Mint.com but the hackers are to good to trust having all that info in one place. That's the job of the institutions you do business with and yourself.

Now Mint.com would be a big plum for any hacker. Break in there and get thousands of accounts and passwords. I do not trust mint.com and any other outfit to have my data. Spread the information around to make it harder for a thief to get. I like the fact that mint.com and others are setting up this service. They are the honey to draw the flies away from the rest of us.

I can't believe anyone would turn over all their account info to one organization, most especially a new one on the scene! You've got to be kidding. It's not that difficult to keep track of charges and balances on bank accounts and credit cards. And one doesn't need to know the aggregate total - all that's needed is to know if all charges and withdrawals are legitimate.

I check my bank balance almost daily. My wife almost lost her entire bank balance not long ago. She is so lucky she was on the phone with the bank while the person was 500 miles away trying to take money out of her account.
