Hi vlad, I downloaded and ran Crysis in HIGH although the game set it at LOW after a hardware scan. It ran fine as far as I can tell it was smooth all the way even in the combat scenes. The graphics looked good as well. I am running an " old decrepit" eMachines T5212. Pentium D 925 ( 3.0 Ghz), evga GeForce 8600 GT 256 Mb DDR3 video card, 2 Gb 533 Mhz DDR2 ram, Antec Basiq 500w PSU and Realtek HD audio and I'm not done tinkering yet. As I said it ran smooth with no stutter or sticking in the HIGH setting mode. Although this is not really not my kind of game, I did find myself getting into the story as I was playing the DEMO. This was also in single player mode. Online play would most likely be a different story. coastie65

Coastie, if that's considered old and decrepit then my PC's an invaded. It has integrated graphics with 64megs of shared VRAM, no DVD player, 512 megs of RAM, and an AMD Athlon XP 2800 2.08 GHz CPU. I'm trying to up-grade it but I'm having problems with the DVD drive, I can't figure out how to tell what type of DVD port my motherboard has.

Hi number, I guess this thing does get the job done and I'm not done tinkering yet. As for your optical drive problem, did you try checking in bios or the device manager. You should be able to get a handle on it in one of those places as to whether it is ide or not. I think it may be though. Maybe I was talking about the Operator and not the rig when I said old and decrepit. coastie65

Well, I bought Crysis, literaly, yesterday, and it runs great for me at resolutions of 1280 x 1024, with AA at 4x, AF at 8x. I can run it at 1600 x 1200, though it doesn't exactly hyper fast, though still very playable. (Do Note that I run this game at my only option, DirectX 9, since I have XP as my OS and a 7-series card).
My Specs:
- Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 2.67GHz, 8MB L2 cache, Overlocked to 2.97GHz
- MSI P6N Diamond nForce 680i Motherboard
- 2 x EVGA GeForce 7950GX2's( That's Quad-SLI), Overclocked from default speeds(500MHz core/ 1.2GHz mem) to 675MHz core, 1.5GHz mem.
- 4GB Mushkin DDR2 RAM, Overclocked from default speeds to 800MHz
- 1000 Watt(1 kilowatt) PC Power and Cooling PSU
- Asetek Liq. CPU cooling system, dual Arctic cooling Accelero S1 GPU/VGA coolers, dual Koolance HDD coolers for the Raptors
- additional 2 Thermaltake A2329 Case-Fans
- Lite-on Lightscribe DVD+/-RW Optical Drive
- Lite-On 16X DVD-Rom
- 2 x 160GB WD Raptor 10,000-rpm RAID-0, additional 2x 200GB Seagate Barracuda Drives (7200-rpm; non-RAID)
- OS: Win.XP MCE, triple booted with Ubuntu-Linux and FreeBSD
- Samsung Syncmaster 20"Display

All I can say is I know one gaming computer that man handles Crysis using a single video card. I played Crysis on a new machine from Vology known as the "Predator X51" This computer looked awesome, but when I saw the single video card on board I thought this was a joke. I thought that until the game loaded and I ran a hardware scan and it defaulted all game settings to "Very High". To top that the guy doing the demostration launched a full system virus scan, four Adobe apps, started streaming video from the net, launched media center playing music and the launched Crysis. This gaming computer chewed through the game like nothing else was running it totally amazed me. I can say this much the Predator X51 has my vote for sure. I have been in gaming for years and I have never seen a system at this price tear through so much without crashing. When I heard that the base price on this computer was going to be around $1600 I almost lost it considering I paid well over $1500 for my Alienware and I know I couldn't do all that and play Crysis too. I'm ordering one of these computers for sure and if anyone else in here would like the information on this machine than just visit their website at www.vology.com I had to contact their customer support to get information because they haven't posted the system up on the website yet. Most bang for your buck just got better in this gamers opinion!!!!! :)

that was what i wrote earlier , as it was doing fine then. Just afetr 1 hour of playing when the textures became more detailed, more no. of cpu players and hence more AI , fps dropped down ,the game started to lag at above settings. !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

Now i am running it smoothly at medium (all medium) settings, shadows ON and resolution of 1280X1024 with 8600GT. !http://forums.pcworld.com/legacyimages/

Anyone doing better than this on 8600 ??
Although the difference wasnt much at high and medium. At medium also its so good , the dx10 screens are amazing .They make awesome wallpapers.I m trying to get some dreamscenes out of it , will show when i succeed.
