:) Indeed.
I am not too enthused about only one USB port and no Firewire port. Only an 80 gb hard drive is also a concern. But, then I guess I might be expecting just a HAIR too much out of Apple for a 3 lb, less than 3/4" laptop that is still rather impressive! ;-)

It's really really REALLY thin. I haven't seen anything as thin as this before. Have they announced the sale price yet?
Base model is $1800 (Core 2 Duo running 1.6 ghz, 2 gb of RAM, 80 gb hard drive, integrated graphics). The version with the solid state 64 gb hard drive and 1.8 ghz processor is like $3100, I believe. Those are the only two basic configurations configurations. You can modify the base configuration to have the 1.8 ghz processor if you want for an additional $300. You can get a USB optical drive for $99. It does not appear that you can upgrade the memory or go to a larger hard drive at this time.

I was going to get a MacBookPro... and I think I still will. The Air is interesting, but ultimately for someone who travels the majority of the time and is willing to sacrifice some function for form. Since my PowerBook sits on my desk 80% of the time, I think I'd rather have the bells and whistles of the MBP and deal with the extra weight.
Plus, first release hardware is always a bit risky.

About six months ago the son of a friend of mine who is the IT manager for a property management corporation whose headquarters are here showed me a Dell 12" computer that weighed less than 3 pounds. They had gotten some for their road warriors, but they cost about $2,400 with all the software and accessories. But, boy were they small. That is an advantage, but also a disadvantage, in that they also have small keyboards and big price tags.
My 17" HP dv9500 is about a 1/2" wider and about 3/8" deeper and is thinner and lighter and a great deal sleeker than my 3 1/2 year old 15.4" HP zv5330, but I wouldn't want to carry it around a great deal.
These sub-notebooks look great at first blush, but they have a lot of limitations.
